BIRDS, BIRDS, BIRDS.......Part One

.....or the Good, the Terrible and the Really, Really Ugly.


This little story had its beginnings near the end of July, 2013, when I purchased a new bird lens for my Canon 7D SLR camera. When I say 'bird lens', I mean, simply, that it's a lens with a focal length long enough to capture birds - and other native fauna - in the wonderful Aussie bush (i.e. forest).

2014 GOLDFEST - GRENFELL

The annual Goldfest festival came to Grenfell last Saturday, 27th September, 2014, as part of the Gold Trails series of events through many towns in the Central West of N.S.W. [See: http://www.goldtrails.com.au/]

My camera and I made the arduous journey up to Main Street (a little joke there - it's about a 2 minute walk!) and here's what I saw:

The 2014 Henry Lawson Festival at Grenfell, N.S.W., Australia kicked off on the Friday before the Queen's Birthday Holiday weekend but didn't get into full swing until Saturday, 7th June. That was when I got amongst the action with my camera. Here's how the morning's activities looked:

Wedge-tailed Eagle

A farmer-friend from Thuddungra had mentioned Wedge-tailed Eagles (Aquila audax) on his property several times - as many as 16 of them there at one time!
